What happens when a world-renowned artist suddenly loses his natural abilities? Film director Anne Wivel has followed her friend, the painter Per Kirkeby, closely after a dramatic fall down a flight of stairs, where Kirkeby injured his head severely. Before the fall Kirkeby had successfully recovered from a brain haemorrhage and two blood clots, but the fall down the stairs two years ago resulted in a brain injury that now prevents him from working. Not only has he lost his physical mobility, but also his ability to recognize colours and even his own artwork.
